Ingredients

For the Fish:

1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on desired heat level)

Salt and pepper to taste

2 large eggs

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Cooking spray (for air frying)

For the Slaw:

2 cups shredded green cabbage

1 cup shredded red cabbage

1 large carrot, grated

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Juice of 1 lime

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon honey

Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembly:

8 small corn or flour tortillas

Slices of avocado (optional)

Lime wedges (for serving)

Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Fish:

    - Start by patting the fish fillets dry using a paper towel to remove excess moisture. If preferred, cut the fillets into strips for easier taco filling.

      - In a shallow dish, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of spices.

        - In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten.

          - In a third shallow dish, add the panko breadcrumbs, ready for coating the fish.

            Coat the Fish:

              - Dip each fish strip into the flour mixture, coating it thoroughly. Be sure to shake off any excess flour.

                - Next, immerse the coated fish in the egg mixture, allowing any extra egg to drip off back into the bowl.

                  - Finally, roll the fish in the panko breadcrumbs until each piece is completely covered. Repeat this process for all fish pieces.

                    Air Fry the Fish:

                      - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

                        - Arrange the breaded fish in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking spray for an extra crispy texture. Avoid overcrowding; you may need to cook in batches.

                          - Air fry the fish for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. The fish should be golden brown and crispy, and the internal temperature should reach at least 145°F (63°C).

                            Make the Slaw:

                              - While the fish is cooking, prepare the slaw. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped cilantro.

                                - In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour this dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss everything together until well combined.

                                  Warm the Tortillas:

                                    - Heat a skillet over medium heat and warm the tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side, or until they become pliable and slightly toasted.

                                      Assemble the Tacos:

                                        - Take a warm tortilla and lay a few pieces of crispy fish in the center. Top generously with the zesty slaw mixture. If desired, add slices of avocado and drizzle with hot sauce for an extra kick.

                                          Serve:

                                            - Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top, enhancing their flavor.
