Ingredients

1 cup fresh blackberries

1 cup water (for blackberry syrup)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 4-6 lemons)

2-3 cups cold water (for dilution)

1/4 cup fresh sage leaves (plus extra for garnish)

Ice cubes

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Instructions

Make the Blackberry Syrup:

In a small saucepan, combine the fresh blackberries, 1 cup of water, and the granulated sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally for about 5-7 minutes until the sugar has fully dissolved and the blackberries have released their juices, creating a vibrant syrup.

      Strain the Syrup:

Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove it from the heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the syrup into a clean bowl, discarding the solids (the blackberry pulp). Allow the syrup to cool until it reaches room temperature.

          Infuse the Sage:

In a separate saucepan, heat 1 cup of water until it is just about to boil. Remove the pan from the heat and immediately add the fresh sage leaves. Allow the sage to steep for about 10 minutes, which will extract its aromatic flavor. After steeping, strain out the sage leaves and set the infused water aside.

              Mix the Lemonade:

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled blackberry syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and the sage-infused water. Stir thoroughly to integrate all of the ingredients. Taste your lemonade and feel free to adjust the flavor by adding more syrup for sweetness or more lemon juice for tartness according to your preference.

                  Dilute and Serve:

Gradually stir in 2 to 3 cups of cold water into the pitcher, adjusting based on how strong you like your lemonade. Mix well and serve the refreshing beverage over ice cubes. For a stunning presentation, garnish each glass with additional fresh sage leaves and lemon slices.

                      Enjoy:

Delight in the refreshing goodness of this Blackberry Sage Lemonade, perfect for quenching your thirst on warm days, at picnics, or during any gathering.
