Ingredients

6 cups of day-old bread (brioche or challah recommended), cut into 1-inch cubes

1 cup pecans, roughly chopped

4 large eggs

3 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus additional for drizzling)

Whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish generously with butter or a non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Bread and Pecans: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread with the roughly chopped pecans. Mix them gently to ensure even distribution, then set aside.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs until they are frothy. Then add the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Whisk all the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.

Combine Bread with the Mixture: Pour the wet mixture over the bread and chopped pecans. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold the ingredients together until each bread piece is generously coated and soaked. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the flavors.

Incorporate Caramel Sauce: Gently stir in the caramel sauce, being careful to reserve a few tablespoons for drizzling later. For a beautiful marbled effect, you can lightly swirl the caramel sauce through the bread mixture without fully mixing it in.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Carefully pour the entire mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading the bread and pecan mixture evenly.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. The top should turn a beautiful golden brown and the pudding should be set; test it by inserting a knife in the center—if it comes out clean, it's done.

Cool Slightly: Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes. This resting time helps the flavors meld and makes it easier to serve.

Serve: Serve the bread pudding warm from the oven, drizzled with the reserved caramel sauce. For an extra decadent treat, top with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.

Prep Time, Total Time, Servings: 20 minutes | 1 hour | Serves 8-10.

Enjoy this delightful, rich dessert that's perfect for any occasion!
