1 lb (450g) Italian sausage, casings removed

1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

1 green bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. This typically takes about 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

    Prepare the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Once hot, add the Italian sausage. Use a wooden spoon to break the sausage into smaller pieces as it cooks.
