Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)

1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary)

1 teaspoon salt (adjust according to taste)

1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Optional: 1 tablespoon toasted almond slivers for garnish

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans:

In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add the trimmed green beans and let them cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they are vibrant green and tender-crisp. Quickly transfer the beans to a bowl filled with ice water to halt the cooking process. Allow them to cool for a few minutes, then drain and set aside.

      Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter:

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once the butter is bubbling and starting to foam, add the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned to avoid bitterness.

          Add Herbs and Seasoning:

Stir in the fresh thyme leaves, chopped rosemary, salt, and black pepper into the skillet. Cook the mixture for an additional minute, stirring, to allow the herbs to infuse their flavors into the butter.

Combine Green Beans and Butter Mixture:

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Gently toss the beans in the garlic herb butter, ensuring they are evenly coated and heated through, which should take about 2-3 minutes.

                  Finish with Lemon:

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the lemon zest and fresh lemon juice. Mix well, ensuring that the beans are fully coated and that the bright citrus flavor is evenly distributed.

                      Serve:

Transfer the garlic herb buttered green beans to a serving platter. For an added crunch and nutty flavor, sprinkle toasted almond slivers on top before serving. Enjoy them warm as a scrumptious side dish.
