Ingredients

1 fully cooked ham (approximately 8-10 lbs)

1 cup honey

1/4 cup fresh ginger, finely grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F (160°C) to ensure it's ready for baking the ham.

Prepare the Ham: Carefully remove the ham from its packaging and place it on a roasting rack fitted inside a large roasting pan. If you like, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern to enhance the penetration of the glaze and promote caramelization.

Make the Glaze: In a medium saucepan, combine the honey, finely grated ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, freshly ground black pepper, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic. Whisk these ingredients together over medium heat until the mixture reaches a gentle simmer and the brown sugar is fully dissolved. Allow it to cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze is slightly thickened.

Glaze the Ham: Using a basting brush, apply a generous layer of the glaze all over the ham, ensuring that every surface is well coated. Set aside any remaining glaze for basting later.

Bake the Ham: Place the glazed ham into the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the ham is thoroughly heated. Baste the ham with the reserved glaze every 30 minutes to enhance the flavor and keep it moist.

Final Touch: For a beautifully caramelized finish, increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) during the last 20 minutes of baking, allowing the ham to develop a lovely golden-brown color.

Rest and Serve: Once cooked, carefully remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for a minimum of 15 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute before slicing. If desired, garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness before serving warm.
