Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp granulated sugar

1 1/2 cups warm milk (around 110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1/2 tsp dried Italian herbs (such as oregano, thyme, or basil)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a medium mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit undisturbed for about 5-10 minutes, or until the mixture has frothy bubbles on the surface.

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture along with the melted butter. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until a rough dough forms.

        Knead the Dough:

          - Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for approximately 8-10 minutes, using your hands to fold and push it until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

            First Rise:

              - Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning it to coat the surface. Cover the bowl with a damp kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.

                Prepare Garlic Butter:

                  - In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

                    Shape the Dough:

                      - Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release the air. Transfer it back to a floured surface and divide the dough into small pieces, forming approximately 24 balls, each about 1.5 inches in diameter.

                        - Dip each dough ball into the garlic butter, ensuring it is well-coated, and then roll it in the grated Parmesan cheese. Continue this process until all dough balls are evenly coated.

                          Assemble the Pull-Apart:

                            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a bundt pan or a deep round baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

                              - Begin layering the coated dough balls into the prepared pan, stacking them on top of one another. Drizzle any leftover garlic butter over the top and sprinkle with black pepper and dried Italian herbs for added flavor.

                                Second Rise:

                                  - Cover the assembled dough with a clean kitchen towel and allow it to rise for an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, ensure your oven is preheating.

                                    Bake:

                                      - Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pull-apart bread is golden brown on top and cooked through. The exterior should be crispy while the interior remains soft and fluffy.

                                        Garnish and Serve:

                                          - After baking, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Carefully invert the pull-apart onto a serving platter.

                                            - Optionally, sprinkle with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese. Serve warm, inviting guests to pull apart the light and fluffy pieces!
